Opening up truck charging stations to roaming use
From now on, hauliers will be able to open their charging points to roaming trucks. The aim is to accelerate the return on HGV recharging infrastructures and make them more accessible to drivers.
The electrification of truck fleets poses a number of challenges: high installation costs, limited usage and a growing need for charging points. Bump, a specialist in recharging solutions for businesses, is supporting this change with a turnkey offer dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles.
Make truck charging stations profitable more quickly
Owners of HGV charging stations can now share their charging points with other operators. This model enables :
- reduce payback time,
- set a specific rate for public vehicles,
- develop a new business model for truck recharging.
For example, a €50,000 high-speed bollard can pay for itself in less than 5 years (instead of 10) if it's shared at a rate of €0.30/kWh, according to Bump estimates.
Modular, safe truck recharging
Truck charging stations are managed via the Bump platform:
- real-time availability management,
- price management for external heavy goods vehicles,
- secure reservation and access control via mobile app.
This system prevents unauthorized entry while facilitating the recharging experience for drivers.
Towards accelerated electrification of heavy goods vehicles
As well as being profitable, the opening up of the charging points will help to meet a national challenge: facilitating the electrification of heavy goods vehicles.
- It's easier for itinerant drivers to find nearby charging stations.
- Carriers in the process of installing their own infrastructure can benefit from a transitional solution.
- Some companies even rely solely on shared charging stations to cover their recharging needs.
"Sharing truck charging stations opens up new opportunities: it simplifies driver organization and accelerates the profitability of electrification," explains Tom Lyonnet, Market Manager at Bump.
